The amniotic fluid secretome is the collection of bioactive molecules secreted by cells present in human amniotic fluid, primarily from fetal-origin cells. It comprises growth factors, cytokines, proteins, and extracellular vesicles, and its composition varies with gestational age. It plays critical roles in embryonic/fetal growth, neuroprotection, angiogenesis, immunomodulation, and tissue regeneration. The AFMSC-derived secretome has therapeutic potential in treating neurological injuries and inflammatory conditions.
