Amyloid beta (A4) precursor protein-binding, family A, member 2 pseudogene (ENSG00000259892) is a noncoding, nonfunctional segment of DNA that arose by duplication or retrotransposition of the APBA2 gene. As a pseudogene, it shares sequence similarity with the protein-coding APBA2 gene but contains mutations or lacks regulatory sequences necessary for proper expression and/or translation, resulting in absence of a functional protein product. Pseudogenes like this one do not contribute functional activity to the proteome, do not serve as direct drug targets, and are not therapeutically actionable[1][2][3][4].
