Overview

APBB1IP (Amyloid beta precursor protein binding family B member 1 interacting protein) is a cytosolic and plasma membrane-associated adapter protein central to integrin activation, cell adhesion, and immune responses. It belongs to the MRL (Mig-10/RIAM/Lamellipodin) family and carries Ras association and pleckstrin homology domains that mediate processes like actin cytoskeletal remodeling and Rap1-induced signal transduction. APBB1IP is especially relevant for leukocyte recruitment and complement-mediated pathogen clearance, acting as a key regulator for immune cell activation, particularly T cells. In cancer, APBB1IP has prognostic value: its expression correlates with immune cell infiltration and patient survival in various tumor types, suggesting an important role in the tumor microenvironment and metastatic potential. However, no direct drugs currently target APBB1IP, and its clinical relevance is mainly as a biomarker for prognosis and immune infiltration in cancer and immunity.
