Mechanism of action
Monoclonal antibodies target specific epitopes on Aβ oligomers or fibrils to promote microglial-mediated phagocytosis and clearance of plaques, or to neutralize toxic soluble species. Other approaches involve small molecules that disrupt the aggregation interface to prevent the formation of higher-order assemblies.
