Amyloid fibril protein AL

Molecular classification
Protein aggregate, Immunoglobulin light chain
01

Overview

Amyloid fibril protein AL is derived from immunoglobulin light chains that misfold and aggregate extracellularly as highly ordered β-sheet-rich fibers. These deposits cause tissue damage through physical disruption rather than direct toxicity from monomers or oligomers, leading to organ dysfunction in primary systemic (AL) amyloidosis.
