AMZ2 pseudogene 1 (AMZ2P1, also known as FLJ32065) is a processed pseudogene located in the human genome. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to known genes but generally nonfunctional due to mutations or loss of regulatory elements, and they do not code for functional proteins. Although historically considered "junk DNA," certain pseudogenes have been shown to play roles in gene regulation, for example by serving as decoys for microRNAs or generating regulatory RNAs such as siRNAs that can impact mRNA stability or translation of parental genes. However, there is no evidence as of now that AMZ2P1 itself has a specific biological or disease-related function, nor is it considered a therapeutic target[1][3]. In summary, AMZ2P1 is classified as a pseudogene rather than a functional protein or receptor, and is not recognized as a drug target, with no known role as a biomarker or involvement in any therapeutic mechanism.
