An angiogenic endothelial cell is an endothelial cell actively participating in the process of angiogenesis. This target refers specifically to angiogenic endothelial cells expressing a chimeric death receptor gene driven by the PPE1–3x promoter, enabling selective targeting of activated, angiogenic endothelium in pathological conditions such as tumor angiogenesis. The PPE1-3x promoter's specificity allows for localized induction of apoptosis upon activation of the chimeric death receptor.
