Angiogenic factor with G-patch and FHA domains 1 pseudogene 1 (AGGF1P1) is a human pseudogene, defined as a nonfunctional DNA segment that closely resembles its functional paralog, AGGF1, which encodes a protein with roles in angiogenesis and endothelial cell proliferation[7][8]. As with other pseudogenes, AGGF1P1 typically does not produce a functional protein; most pseudogenes arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and accumulate disabling mutations, preventing them from acting as conventional therapeutic targets[2][3]. Some pseudogenes, in general, may regulate the activity of their functional counterparts via RNA-based mechanisms (such as miRNA sponging or siRNA generation)[3], but there is no direct evidence for such a function for AGGF1P1 specifically. Accordingly, AGGF1P1 is not considered a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other druggable target molecule.
