Angiogenic factor with G-patch and FHA domains 1 pseudogene 6 (AGGF1P6)

AGGF1P6, Angiogenic factor with G-patch and FHA domains 1 pseudogene 6, is a processed pseudogene found in humans, corresponding to a nonfunctional copy of the AGGF1 gene. Like other pseudogenes, AGGF1P6 does not encode a functional protein due to sequence alterations acquired after duplication or retrotransposition. While some pseudogenes may have regulatory roles at the RNA level, such as acting as microRNA “decoys” or antisense modulators, there is no current evidence of such a function for AGGF1P6 specifically. AGGF1P6 is not recognized as a therapeutic target, nor is it involved in any known disease mechanism or used as a biomarker. Its clinical relevance is mainly limited to genomic studies and as a reference in bioinformatics analyses, since the presence of pseudogenes can complicate interpretation of next-generation sequencing data.
