Angiogenin and angiopoietin-2 secretion refers to the extracellular release of two distinct proteins that play pivotal roles in the regulation of angiogenesis and vascular maintenance. Angiogenin (ANG) is a 14.4 kDa member of the ribonuclease A superfamily that promotes endothelial cell proliferation and basement membrane degradation by stimulating ribosomal RNA transcription (UniProt P03950). While ANGPT2 is a validated therapeutic target addressed by drugs like Faricimab, which neutralizes both ANGPT2 and VEGF-A, Angiogenin is primarily a target of experimental research in oncology and neuroprotection (FDA Label: Vabysmo). This entry is considered incorrect as a single target because it describes a physiological process involving two separate molecular entities rather than a single druggable receptor or enzyme.
