Overview

ANKRD10 intronic transcript 1 (ANKRD10-IT1) is a human long non-coding RNA gene located within an intronic region of the protein-coding ANKRD10 gene.[2][4] It does not encode a protein and is not classified as a therapeutic target, such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor. The specific biological function of ANKRD10-IT1 remains largely uncharacterized, though it may play a regulatory role in gene expression at the RNA level, as is common for lncRNAs. Disease associations are limited, but there are some links to retinitis pigmentosa[4]. There is no evidence for direct interaction with drugs, biomarker status, or documented safety concerns in the current literature. "ANKRD10-IT1" is not the same as the ANKRD10 protein or its protein isoforms, which have different biological properties and classifications[1][3][6][7]. ANKRD10-IT1 is a non-coding RNA and does not have therapeutic targeting attributes typically ascribed to protein-coding genes or classical receptors.
