Overview

Ankyrin repeat and death domain-containing protein 1B (ANKDD1B) is a protein-coding gene expressed in several human tissues. The protein contains ankyrin repeat domains, which are known for mediating protein–protein interactions, and a death domain, a motif commonly present in proteins involved in apoptosis and immune signaling. Orthologs exist in model organisms, and it is predicted to act upstream of or within signal transduction, but its direct biological activities in humans are not comprehensively described. While mutations have been associated with conditions such as migraine and neurogenic arthropathy, there is currently no evidence that ANKDD1B is a direct therapeutic target or that it interacts with approved drugs. Its expression is found in diverse tissues, and no direct implication in major signaling pathways or as a receptor, enzyme, or transcription factor is currently established in the scientific literature. Note: Despite having structurally interesting domains (ankyrin repeats and death domain), ANKDD1B is not a well-studied or validated therapeutic target, and there is no evidence it is directly druggable or currently exploited in therapy.
