Ankyrin repeat and SOCS box protein 13 (ASB13) is a member of the ankyrin repeat and SOCS box (ASB) family of proteins, characterized by the presence of ankyrin repeat domains and a C-terminal SOCS box[1][2][3]. The SOCS box links substrate proteins to an Elongin-Cullin-SOCS-box (ECS) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, facilitating their ubiquitination and subsequent degradation by the proteasome[3][6][7]. ASB13 is implicated in regulating Notch signaling and mitochondrial function, and is involved in the control of compartment size in tissues such as brain and muscle[4]. Dysregulation or mutation of ASB13 has been associated with several disease areas, most notably hematologic cancers and potentially neuropsychiatric conditions[3].
