Ankyrin repeat and SOCS box protein 14 (ASB14) is a member of the ankyrin repeat and SOCS box-containing family, encoded by the ASB14 gene. It contains ankyrin repeat sequences and a SOCS box domain, which couples suppressor of cytokine signaling proteins and their partners to the elongin B and C complex, possibly targeting them for proteasomal degradation. ASB14 acts as a substrate-recognition subunit of an SCF-like ECS (Elongin-Cullin-SOCS-box protein) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex, mediating ubiquitination and degradation of target proteins, and may inhibit cardiomyocyte nuclear proliferation by directing MAPRE2 degradation. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing. ASB14 is expressed in various human tissues, but is not currently identified as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or clinical drug target.
