Target intelligence / Profile preview
Ankyrin repeat domain 11 pseudogene is a non-functional copy of the protein-coding ankyrin repeat domain 11 gene. Like other pseudogenes, it shares high sequence similarity with its parent gene but has accumulated mutations (such as frameshifts or stop codons) that prevent it from encoding a functional protein. Pseudogenes such as this are broadly considered nonfunctional "genomic fossils," though in rare cases they may produce RNA transcripts with potential regulatory effects. However, current evidence does not support any clear biological, pathological, or pharmacological role for the ankyrin repeat domain 11 pseudogene.
