Pseudogenes are genomic remnants of functional genes that have lost protein-coding capacity due to mutation accumulation[7]. Most pseudogenes, including ANKRD33BP6, do not produce functional proteins and are not therapeutic targets. Some pseudogenes can affect gene expression by acting as competing endogenous RNAs or microRNA decoys, but there is no evidence for such a function for ANKRD33BP6 specifically[6][7].
