Overview

Ankyrin repeat domain-containing protein 42 (ANKRD42) is a protein encoded by the ANKRD42 gene in humans. It belongs to the protein phosphatase 1 regulatory subunit (PPP1R) and ankyrin repeat domain-containing (ANKRD) protein families. ANKRD42 is predicted to play a role in modulating cellular signaling pathways, including the positive regulation of NF-kappaB transcription factor activity and cytokine production involved in inflammatory response. It may act as an inhibitor of cyclin-dependent protein serine/threonine kinases and has been linked to tissue remodeling pathways. Although it demonstrates widespread expression across tissues and participates in multiple cellular processes, current evidence does not indicate a direct role as a drug target or established disease biomarker[1][2][10][9].
