Ankyrin repeat domain-containing protein 46 (ANKRD46)

Ankyrin repeat domain-containing protein 46 (ANKRD46) is a cellular protein characterized by multiple ankyrin repeat motifs, which mediate protein-protein interactions involved in diverse cellular processes. ANKRD46 is regulated by microRNAs (e.g., miR-21 and miR-451) that affect its expression and, consequently, impact cell proliferation, migration, embryo implantation, and tissue development. Emerging research implicates altered ANKRD46 expression in certain cancers (such as breast and thyroid), as well as in tissue quality traits in animals. Although ANKRD46 has important regulatory roles, it is not currently considered a direct therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme[1][2][6][7].
