Ankyrin repeat domain-containing protein 63 (ANKRD63) is a protein-coding gene within the ankyrin repeat domain-containing family, characterized by multiple ankyrin repeats that commonly mediate protein-protein interactions[1][5]. Although its precise molecular function in human physiology is not clear, recent studies suggest a potential dual role: (a) as a mediator of stress-responsive epigenetic modifications in humans, where it shows altered DNA methylation associated with psychosocial stress, and (b) as a region-specific marker in the basal ganglia, where it may contribute to brain proteomic heterogeneity[1]. There is no evidence that ANKRD63 functions as a therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter), nor are any drug interactions or direct disease associations clearly established in the current literature[1][4][5]. The gene is included in cancer expression profiling datasets, but no defined oncogenic or tumor-suppressive function is attributed to it[4].
