ANKRD7 was initially cloned as a testis-specific transcript (alias TSA806), and transcriptomics analyses confirm its highly enriched expression in human testis, suggesting a role in testicular development or function, possibly related to spermatogenesis or early developmental events such as blastocyst hatching[2][5][4]. Its molecular function and physiological role remain poorly characterized, with no evidence for involvement in common disease mechanisms, no established biomarkers, and no drugs known to interact with the protein.
