Overview

Annexin A2 pseudogene 1 (ANXA2P1) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene related to the annexin A2 gene (ANXA2). Although historically considered non-functional, emerging evidence suggests ANXA2P1 may influence cancer biology—particularly glioma—by acting as a molecular decoy that regulates the expression of its parent gene ANXA2 through a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) mechanism involving microRNA sequestration. Its expression level is associated with molecular subtypes of glioblastoma and may serve as a biomarker for poor prognosis, but no direct therapeutic targeting or drug interactions have been established for ANXA2P1 itself[4][5].
