Overview
Annexin A8-like protein 1 (ANXA8L1) is a member of the annexin family of Ca2+- and phospholipid-binding proteins. It is structurally related to other annexins and is anticipated to participate in Ca2+-regulated processes such as membrane repair, vesicle trafficking, and cytoskeletal organization[1][6]. ANXA8L1 may function as an anticoagulant by inhibiting the thromboplastin-specific complex, and overexpression has been associated with acute myelocytic leukemia and poor prognosis in renal cell carcinoma[3][4][6]. Although its direct biochemical and therapeutic targeting roles are unclear, the gene is implicated in cancer progression and may serve as a marker of aggressive tumor behavior[4][6].
