Anomalous homeobox protein (ANHX) is a human protein-coding gene predicted to act as a sequence-specific DNA-binding transcription factor, especially relevant for skeletal muscle cell proliferation and differentiation[1][3][11]. The protein contains a homeodomain—a characteristic DNA-binding motif involved in developmental gene regulation—and likely functions in nuclear transcriptional regulatory complexes. While it has not currently been implicated as a disease gene or therapeutic target, it is evolutionarily related to other homeobox transcription factors such as SIX5[1]. There are no drugs known to target ANHX and it has not been established as a disease biomarker or direct therapeutic target.
