The **anterior cutaneous branch of the thoracoabdominal nerve T9** is a small nerve branch derived from the ventral ramus of the ninth thoracic spinal nerve (T9). After exiting the intervertebral foramen, the T9 nerve travels in the costal groove beneath the ninth rib, contributing to the thoracoabdominal nerves. These nerves run within the neurovascular plane of the abdominal wall and give off anterior cutaneous branches that pierce the rectus sheath. The T9 anterior cutaneous branch supplies sensory innervation to the skin of the upper abdominal region and provides motor innervation to segmental abdominal wall muscles[2][4][7]. This nerve can be involved in pain syndromes if injured or compressed but is not a canonical molecular target in pharmacology.
