Overview

ANTXRL (Anthrax toxin receptor-like) is a protein predicted to have transmembrane signaling receptor activity and to be localized at the cell surface and plasma membrane[2][4][6][8]. The name is derived from sequence similarity to anthrax toxin receptors (ANTXR1/TEM8 and ANTXR2/CMG2), but there is no published evidence that ANTXRL functions as a receptor for anthrax toxin or is involved in the same biological processes. Functional studies are largely absent, and its physiological or pathological significance remains unknown. Changes in gene copy number have been observed in schizophrenia brain tissue, suggesting possible neural relevance but without mechanistic insight[2]. ANTXRL is not considered an experimentally validated or canonical therapeutic target. Further research is required to clarify its biological role and potential relevance in health or disease.
