Target intelligence / Profile preview
An anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agent is a molecule or compound that exhibits both the ability to reduce inflammation and to inhibit the growth of, or kill, bacteria. These agents can be synthetic drugs, natural products, peptides, nanoparticles, or engineered biological systems. They target both host inflammatory pathways and bacterial processes such as cell wall synthesis, quorum sensing, and biofilm formation.
Inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g., TNF-α, IL-6), suppression of enzymes involved in inflammation (e.g., COX-2), modulation of transcription factors such as NF-κB, disruption of bacterial cell wall synthesis, inhibition of protein synthesis, interference with nucleic acid replication, disruption of quorum sensing and biofilm formation, direct bactericidal effects.
