Antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) is an immune mechanism where effector cells, such as NK cells, lyse target cells coated with antibodies. The process involves antibodies binding to antigens on target cells, followed by the Fc region of the antibodies interacting with Fc receptors (e.g., CD16/FcγRIIIa) on effector cells, leading to target cell lysis.
Monoclonal antibodies bind to target cells and recruit effector immune cells (e.g., NK cells) to induce cell lysis through the release of cytotoxic granules or expression of death-inducing molecules.
