Antioxidant protection refers to the combined action of antioxidant molecules and enzymes that maintain cellular health by neutralizing reactive oxygen species (ROS) and free radicals, thereby preventing oxidative stress and cellular damage[1][2][3][4]. This protection is achieved through a network of enzymatic antioxidants (such as superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase) and non-enzymatic antioxidants (such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and glutathione), as well as dietary and endogenous compounds that act to preserve redox balance and prevent damage to DNA, lipids, and proteins.
