Antisense transcript of PTP4A3, liver carcinoma survival associated (ASTILCS)

Target
ASTILCS
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA)
01

Overview

ASTILCS is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed antisense to PTP4A3 and is overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells and tissues[1][3][6]. It was identified as essential for HCC cell survival in functional genetic screens, where its knockdown led to induction of apoptosis and suppression of cell proliferation[4]. ASTILCS is believed to regulate the expression of its neighboring gene, PTK2, which encodes Protein Tyrosine Kinase 2, a key survival factor for HCC cells. Its biological role appears restricted to cellular regulation processes critical for tumor growth and survival, making it a putative therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker for liver cancer[4].
