AP1G2 antisense RNA 1 (AP1G2-AS1) is a long non-coding antisense RNA located at 14q11.2, also known by the synonyms RP11-66N24.3 and ENSG00000258727[1]. It is transcribed from the opposite DNA strand of the AP1G2 gene and is implicated in post-transcriptional regulation of its sense gene via direct binding to the 3' untranslated region and regulation of skipped exons. AP1G2-AS1 can serve as an enhancer or recruit transcription factors to modulate gene expression, and interacts with various proteins including epigenetic regulators (such as OGT, SETD6, SIN3B, KAT2A, KMT2B) and transcription factors (such as DMTF1, KMT2B, ZXDC, IRF9, TBX19). It is differentially expressed in several cancer types, including upregulation in prostate adenocarcinoma and correlation with disease stage in cholangiocarcinoma and PRAD, suggesting a potential role as a biomarker for cancer progression, though it is not currently recognized as a direct therapeutic target or druggable entity[1].
