Target intelligence / Profile preview
AP2B1 pseudogene 1 (AP2B1P1) is a non-coding genomic locus resembling the functional AP2B1 gene, but lacks the ability to encode a protein. It is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it arises from the duplication or retrotransposition of a functional gene but has acquired mutations or deletions (such as frame shifts or premature stop codons) that render it nonfunctional. As a pseudogene, AP2B1P1 does not produce a protein product, is not involved in cellular signaling or transport, and is not a therapeutic target.
