AP3S1 pseudogene 3 (AP3S1P3)

Target
AP3S1P3
Molecular classification
Other, Pseudogene
01

Overview

AP3S1P3 is a *pseudogene* related to Adaptor Related Protein Complex 3 Subunit Sigma 1. While the canonical AP3S1 gene encodes a subunit of the AP3 adaptor complex involved in vesicular trafficking from the Golgi apparatus[1][9], AP3S1P3 itself is a noncoding pseudogene with no established function or clinical relevance. Pseudogenes are DNA segments related to known genes but are generally nonfunctional due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements. There is no evidence that AP3S1P3 is expressed as a protein, nor that it serves as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or therapeutic target. No drugs, mechanisms, or disease implications are clearly associated with AP3S1P3 itself.
