APC membrane recruitment protein 3 (AMER3)

Target
AMER3
Molecular classification
Other (No evidence of it being a receptor, enzyme, transporter, ion channel or transcription factor; part of the Amer protein family with membrane-associated functions)
01

Overview

APC membrane recruitment protein 3 (AMER3) is a membrane-associated protein that regulates the canonical Wnt signaling pathway by binding phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate and beta-catenin, translocating to the cell membrane. Unlike its paralogs Amer1 and Amer2 (which inhibit Wnt signaling), AMER3 acts as an activator, indicating a distinctive, non-redundant cellular function. Diseases associated with AMER3 include isolated tracheo-esophageal fistula and tracheoesophageal fistula with or without esophageal atresia. There is presently no evidence for its role as a therapeutic target, nor are there known interacting drugs or established biomarker functions
