Overview

Apolipoprotein C-I pseudogene 1 (APOC1P1) is a long non-coding RNA pseudogene located in the apolipoprotein gene cluster at chromosome 19q13.2, between APOC1 and APOC4. APOC1P1 does not encode a protein but generates multiple lincRNA transcripts, notably lincRNA-APOC1P1-3, which is overexpressed in breast cancer and affects cell proliferation and apoptosis by binding to tubulin and altering α-tubulin acetylation. Its biological role is regulatory rather than enzymatic or receptor-based. There is evidence for a possible function in tumorigenesis, but it is not considered a classical therapeutic target or a receptor/enzyme[2][4][5].

Mechanism of action

None reported for drugs. Functional studies show that lincRNA-APOC1P1-3 promotes breast cancer by increasing α-tubulin acetylation and inhibiting apoptosis, but it is not a druggable molecule.
