Overview

These pathways are frequently dysregulated in diseases like cancer, where cells evade apoptosis, and autoimmune disorders, where immune signaling is hyperactive (Nature Reviews Cancer, 2021). While not a single therapeutic target, many specific proteins within these pathways, such as BCL-2, PD-1, and various kinases, serve as critical focal points for drug development (FDA, 2023). Therapeutic intervention in these pathways aims to either restore apoptotic sensitivity in tumor cells or modulate immune responses to treat inflammatory and oncological conditions.
