Target intelligence / Profile preview
Arabinosyl transferase EmbB is an integral membrane protein in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It is a key enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of arabinogalactan, a critical component of the mycobacterial cell wall. EmbB polymerizes arabinose units and is a target for the first-line anti-tuberculosis drug ethambutol. Mutations in embB are associated with ethambutol resistance.
Inhibition of arabinosyltransferase activity, blocking arabinogalactan and lipoarabinomannan synthesis.
