Archaelysin family metallopeptidase 2 (AMZ2)

Target
AMZ2
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Metallopeptidase, Peptidase family M54 (archaemetzincin/archaelysin)
01

Overview

Archaelysin family metallopeptidase 2 (AMZ2) is a zinc-dependent metalloprotease enzyme that displays activity against the peptide angiotensin-3, and is inhibited by amastatin as well as general metallopeptidase inhibitors such as o-phenanthroline and batimastat[1][5][6]. It belongs to the archaemetzincin (archaelysin) family of peptidase (M54) and contains a consensus zinc-binding motif[4]. AMZ2 plays a role in proteolytic processing of peptides and is associated with certain disease phenotypes, including male infertility (specifically globozoospermia), and may contribute to lung tumorigenesis[1][5].
