Archaelysin family metallopeptidase 2 pseudogene 2 (AMZ2P2)

Target
AMZ2P2
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Processed pseudogene, Retrocopy
01

Overview

AMZ2P2 is a retrocopy (processed pseudogene) of the protein-coding gene AMZ2[7]. Pseudogenes typically arise from duplication or reverse transcription events and lack the ability to encode a functional protein[8][9]. AMZ2P2 is catalogued in several genomic databases (HGNC: 38072, NCBI Gene: 100421018), but there is no evidence for translation or therapeutic relevance. Unlike its parent AMZ2, which participates in zinc metallopeptidase activity and is associated with certain diseases, AMZ2P2 itself does not have any documented biological function, disease association, or pharmacological importance[7][8][9].
