ArfGAP with RhoGAP domain, ankyrin repeat and PH domain-containing protein 2 (ARAP2) is a multidomain regulatory protein involved in actin cytoskeleton organization and focal adhesion dynamics. It contains ArfGAP, RhoGAP, ankyrin repeat, Ras-associating, and pleckstrin homology domains, and functions as a phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5)-trisphosphate-dependent GTPase-activating protein for Arf6 but predominately lacks RhoGAP catalytic activity. ARAP2 mediates cellular processes downstream of RhoA, regulating focal adhesion structure and actin stress fiber formation, and localizes to focal adhesions where it modulates the cytoskeletal architecture in response to signaling events.
