Arginine and serine rich coiled-coil 1 (RSRC1) is a protein-coding gene that encodes a non-snRNP (small nuclear ribonucleoprotein) splicing factor involved in both constitutive and alternative pre-mRNA splicing, as well as transcription regulation[1][2][4][5][6]. RSRC1 is ubiquitously expressed and plays a pivotal role in RNA processing, especially the second step of splicing. Loss or mutation of RSRC1 impairs normal splicing and transcription, leading to effects on cell proliferation, migration, and neurodevelopment. RSRC1 acts as a tumor suppressor in gastric and possibly other cancers by influencing the PTEN/FAK signaling pathway, and its deficiency is associated with poor survival in gastric cancer and neurodevelopmental disorders such as intellectual disability and schizophrenia[1][2][3]. It does not act as a conventional drug target (such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or ion channel), and no drugs or direct therapeutic interventions are currently known to target RSRC1.
