Overview

Argininosuccinate lyase pseudogene 1 (ASLP1) is a non-functional genomic sequence related to the argininosuccinate lyase gene. Unlike the functional **ASL** gene, which encodes an enzyme critical for the urea cycle and ammonia detoxification[1][2], **ASLP1** is a pseudogene with no protein product, biological function, or direct implications in disease or therapy. It is found on chromosome 22 as a nontranscribed pseudogene[2]. Note that all key biological information, druggability, and disease associations pertain to the functional ASL gene, not its pseudogene.
