Overview

ARHGAP26 antisense RNA 1 (ARHGAP26-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed antisense to the ARHGAP26 gene. Antisense RNAs, including ARHGAP26-AS1, are known to regulate gene expression at several levels—such as transcription, chromatin modification, and translation—often through sequence complementarity with their associated sense transcripts[1]. They can act in cis (on the same chromosome region) or in trans (on other regions). The precise biological roles and disease associations for ARHGAP26-AS1 specifically remain mostly uncharacterized in current literature, but as with other antisense RNAs, it may contribute to epigenetic control and gene regulation, and could be implicated in cancer and other pathologies when the normal balance of antisense/sense expression is disrupted[1][3]. There are currently no known drugs, mechanisms of drug action, or established clinical biomarkers directly linked to ARHGAP26-AS1. Its classification is as a long noncoding antisense RNA, not a receptor, enzyme, or typical therapeutic target.
