ARHGAP42 pseudogene 1 (ARHGAP42P1)

Target
ARHGAP42P1
Molecular classification
Other, Pseudogene
01

Overview

ARHGAP42 pseudogene 1 (ARHGAP42P1) is a processed pseudogene related to the ARHGAP42 gene. There is no evidence that ARHGAP42P1 encodes a functional protein or participates as a therapeutic target. The actual protein-coding gene, ARHGAP42 (Rho GTPase-activating protein 42), is involved in regulation of blood pressure and vascular tone, but ARHGAP42P1, as a pseudogene, is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or established drug target. Pseudogenes can sometimes have regulatory RNA functions, but there is no current literature supporting clinical or pharmacological targeting of ARHGAP42P1. Therefore, this entry is not a valid therapeutic target and should be considered incorrect if selected as such.
