Overview

ARHGEF17 antisense RNA 1 (ARHGEF17-AS1) is a human long non-coding antisense RNA transcript located at the ARHGEF17 gene locus. Like other antisense RNAs, its primary function is believed to involve regulating the expression of its sense counterpart (the ARHGEF17 gene) or nearby genes through various mechanisms, such as altering chromatin structure or modifying transcriptional or post-transcriptional events. ARHGEF17-AS1 does not encode a protein, and there is currently no evidence supporting its use as a direct therapeutic target or receptor. There is limited knowledge regarding its precise biological functions and disease associations; any functional effects are hypothesized based on general properties of antisense lncRNAs. There are no known drugs, biomarkers, or specific safety concerns related to ARHGEF17-AS1.
