Overview

ARHGEF2 antisense RNA 2 (ARHGEF2-AS2) is a human long non-coding RNA gene officially approved and catalogued as such (HGNC:55175). It is transcribed from the antisense strand near the ARHGEF2 locus. As a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), it does not encode proteins, and its biological functions are largely unknown. There is no published evidence as of now that ARHGEF2-AS2 encodes a protein, nor that it is a therapeutic target, nor are there established disease roles, drug interactions, or diagnostic biomarker associations. Its functions and relevance remain mostly uncharacterized in public scientific resources. It is officially recognized as a gene (HGNC:55175) by the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee. No aliases other than the official name and abbreviation are in public use. Unlike the well-studied protein-coding ARHGEF2 gene, ARHGEF2-AS2 has no established biological functions, pathway involvement, nor known disease roles as per major gene resources. There is no evidence in current resources for drug targeting, mechanism of action, biomarker use, or safety concerns for ARHGEF2-AS2. ARHGEF2-AS2 must not be confused with ARHGEF2 (Rho/Rac guanine nucleotide exchange factor 2), which is a protein-coding gene with known functional and disease relevance.
