Overview

ARL5A pseudogene 3 (ARL5AP3) is a non-coding genomic region derived from the ARL5A gene, which encodes a member of the ARF family of GTP-binding proteins involved in nuclear and signaling functions[5]. As a pseudogene, ARL5AP3 contains sequence homology to the protein-coding ARL5A but does not encode a functional protein and is currently not known to have any direct biological function or disease association in humans[5][8][10]. Some pseudogenes can regulate their ancestral gene or act as non-coding RNAs, but there is no evidence this applies to ARL5AP3. ARL5AP3 is a nonfunctional pseudogene, not established as a therapeutic or biological target, with no known functional or clinical relevance at this time[5][8][10].
