Overview

Armadillo-like helical domain containing protein 1 (ARMH1) is a cytosolic and plasma membrane-associated protein encoded by the ARMH1 gene (also known as C1orf228) in humans[3][6][9]. ARMH1 is part of a protein family characterized by armadillo repeat motifs, which often mediate protein-protein interactions[10][12]. It is broadly expressed in various tissues but shows notably high expression in malignant blast cells of pediatric hematologic cancers, especially acute myeloid leukemia (AML)[4]. Functional studies demonstrate that ARMH1 promotes leukemia cell proliferation and migration, and is involved in mitochondrial fatty acid and cholesterol biosynthetic pathways as well as cell cycle regulation through modulation of CDCA7, P21, and related regulators[2][4]. ARMH1 expression is correlated with poor prognosis and therapy resistance in pediatric leukemias, making it of interest as a disease biomarker and a potential—but as yet, unvalidated—therapeutic target[2][4]. No approved drugs specifically target ARMH1, and its precise molecular mechanism in cancer biology continues to be investigated[2][4][10].
