Overview

Armadillo repeat-containing protein 6 (ARMC6) is a member of the armadillo-repeat protein family defined by tandem repeat domains that mediate protein-protein interactions[1][2][5][6]. The ARMC6 protein's biological function is incompletely characterized in humans; however, it is implicated in diverse cellular processes, including cell division, cytoskeletal organization, and signal transduction[2][5][8]. ARMC6 interacts with telomeric proteins (notably hTRF2) and associates with telomerase complexes but is not essential for telomere length maintenance[1][7]. It may regulate transcriptional programs related to DNA repair and ribosomal function, and in some contexts may influence protein localization, spindle orientation, and RNA localization[2]. Elevated ARMC6 expression is linked to unfavorable prognosis in neuroblastoma and may be involved in the pathophysiology of pancreatic cancer and pancreatitis[1][3][5][7][10]. Studies in non-mammalian species suggest ARMC6 orthologs are involved in immune response regulation[1]. No drugs, clinical biomarkers, or therapeutic applications have been directly established for ARMC6, and its molecular mechanisms remain to be fully elucidated[1][3][5][7][10].
