Overview

Armadillo repeat-containing protein 7 (ARMC7) is a member of the armadillo repeat-containing protein family, functioning primarily as part of the minor spliceosome complex involved in RNA splicing, particularly for U12-type introns[1][5]. ARMC7 forms a complex with RBM48, stabilizing the 5′ end of U6atac snRNA, and is thus important for efficient RNA splicing and mRNA processing[1][4][5]. Dysregulation of ARMC7 has been implicated in several human diseases: it has been linked to cancer prognosis, especially in cervical cancer; suggested, through systems biology and genetic association studies, as a candidate gene in Alzheimer's disease; and found to be involved in developmental processes in animal models such as pigs and fish[1][2][3]. Its molecular role is to provide a protein-protein interaction interface via its armadillo repeat domain, which underlies its involvement in diverse cellular and disease pathways[1][2]. Current evidence does not support ARMC7 as a direct therapeutic target or receptor, and no drugs are known to selectively interact with this protein to date[5].
