Overview

Armadillo repeat containing X-linked 6 (ARMCX6) is a member of the ARMCX protein family, which includes ARMCX1-6. These proteins share armadillo repeat domains that mediate protein-protein interactions, potentially regulating processes such as nuclear transport, cell adhesion, transcription activation, and cytoskeletal organization[3][2]. ARMCX6 is predominantly expressed in human pancreas and spleen, suggesting tissue-specific functions[1]. Although ARMCX1-3 have demonstrated roles in cancer and mitochondrial biology, the specific function of ARMCX6 remains undetermined[1][2][5]. At the sequence level, ARMCX6 contains a DUF634 domain of unknown role, and its N-terminus shares similarity with the Inscuteable domain, which is important for cytoskeleton organization and cell division in other proteins[3][1]. Upregulation of ARMCX6 mRNA has been observed in rheumatoid arthritis, but clinical significance and mechanisms are not established[1]. Current studies do not indicate direct involvement in major diseases or drug targeting, and utility as a biomarker or drug target is not supported by available evidence[2][3][1][5].
